Thank you so much for stopping by! You can call me Aaron.
As a queer, AuDHD, fat, disabled, and generally pro-liberation human being, I am building a studio that centers the needs of marginalized communities. I teach entirely virtually. Once I have a sufficient studio, I will offer a sliding scale for lesson fees.
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Composition in 2018. During college, I found my calling in teaching piano and voice lessons. After teaching for a few years, I returned to school and earned a Master’s in Religion and Music from the Yale Institute of Sacred Music.
I moved to the Twin Cities once I graduated from Yale and worked for Class Notes, the education department at YourClassical MPR. I am now returning to teaching private lessons, building a studio grounded in my values and co-creating a better world through music.

This is Pudding, my rescue cat! She likes the Beatles, forehead kisses, and quiet days.

I am a proud untee to four bio niblings and two chosen niblings.

This is me and my best friend Lauren, at the graduation ceremony for my Master's degree.

This is a sweater I'm currently crocheting. It's important to have non-musical hobbies!

All ages! I have had students as young as four-and-a-half years old, and as old as … well, post-retirement; I didn’t ask for specifics!
For piano, I don’t recommend formal piano lessons under the age of five. For voice, I don’t recommend formal voice lessons under the age of ten. This is not a “no” to teaching those ages! But music lessons for kiddos under five, or voice lessons for kiddos under ten, may look a little different.

I live and work on Dakota land. However, because I teach virtually, I’m happy to take students from anywhere!

YES! To understand your needs and goals better, to make sure I’m the best fit for those needs, and to keep everyone involved safe, please sign up for a free lesson to talk this through. You deserve to feel at home in your voice.

I have had many, many students come in with some version of this story. Based on this experience, I don’t think your voice sounds bad! Because I have yet to hear any voices that are “bad,” untrainable, or what have you. Anyone who has told you otherwise, in my professional opinion, spoke incorrectly.
Voice lessons are a vulnerable thing, so please move gently, and move at your own pace. Whenever you are ready to give voice lessons a try, I would be honored to journey alongside you.
